The Point Lisas Desalination Plant has resumed operations on schedule today. This was announced by the Water and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) today.

This follows substantial completion of planned maintenance work at the facility by the Desalination Company of T&T (Desalcott) which began on November 13.

Delivery of the contracted volume of 40 million imperial gallons daily is expected to be achieved over the next 48 hours.

As such, normalisation of pipe borne water delivery schedules is expected over the next 48 – 72 hours.

Following this, the temporary water schedules imposed in Central and South Trinidad to facilitate the work will be suspended and regular supply schedules will be in effect.

The Wasa thanked customers for minimising the effects of the reduction in supplies from the Point Lisas Desalination Plant by being more efficient in their water use.

Wasa continues to encourage their customers to use water wisely as the Authority manages available supplies in preparation for the Dry Season 2016.
