Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force seized two firearms and a quantity of ammunition during a series of raids, over the last three days, at Beverly Hills, Laventille area.

A 31-year-old man was held with one Glock 19 pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition.

Police said investigations led officers to Alexandra Place, East Dry River, where officers recovered a Smith and Wesson revolver.

However, no one was arrested at that location.

A quantity of 7.62 ammunition was also seized yesterday in the same community.

A report said between Wednesday and yesterday, the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF), in response to an initiative of acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime and Support, Wayne Dick, went to the John John and Beverly Hills areas.

An ongoing exercise was also conducted in the Eastern Port-of-Spain area under the supervision of Superintendent Wayne Mohammed.

In an interview, Dick said that several residents were interviewed in connection with a number of shootings and murders which occurred over the last two weeks.

“They also complained about the virtual absence of street lighting and lighting to the buildings in which they live, among other things,” he said.

In response to the concerns of the residents, T&TEC repaired 15 street lights in the district.

Dick singled out National Security Minister Edmund Dillon, Public Utilities Minister Fitzgerald Hinds and Brent Lyons, the acting managing director of the Housing Development Corporation and Kelvin Ramsook, the General Manager of T&TEC for “bringing a semblance of hope to the community.”
