Due to an unfortunate miscommunication, former International Soca Monarch Shurwayne Winchester has withdrawn from this year’s International Soca Monarch (ISM) competition.
According to information released by the ISM’s management, there was a miscommunication between Winchester and his management where he was entered into the competition and was subsequently successful in getting through to the semifinal round.
Winchester was listed with the other successful artistes carded to perform at the ISM semi-finals on February 5.
As a result of Winchester’s withdrawal from the competition, the artiste with the next highest score from the preliminary round will be awarded a space in the semi-final.
T&T Guardian understands that it was Winchester’s management team out of Miami who submitted his name for the competition.
It is believed that Winchester will not be focusing his attention in the competition arena as he has his eyes set on other goals to be achieved. “Winchester will be missed and the ISM family wishes him the best for his 2017 Carnival season,” ISM management stated.
The return of the Soca Monarch Soca Picnic to the Arima Velodrome for its 25th anniversary, promises to be an evening of non-stop entertainment, exciting competition and a great time for all present.
