Following the flooding of HDC’s housing settlement in Oropune Gardens, the HDC is conducting repairs to residents of rental units in the development.
Most of the development was under several metres of flood waters and about 100 homes were affected due to a pump that was not turned on during the storm.
Mitchell said following the storm the HDC sent a team to clean and clear roads and get the flood water out, then went to residents individually to assess the damage.
“We didn’t have to put any one from Oropune in emergency shelter,” Mitchell told the Sunday Guardian.
“However, the HDC did cleaning and distributed foodstuff. Some residents were rentals and they submitted claims and we had to do repairs.”
