A security officer who worked with a local licensed gun dealer has been arrested after stealing 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition form his employer.
Police said based on information received they stopped a maxi heading south along the Southern Main Road, Chaguanas around 10 am on Saturday and searched the 38-year-old man. He reportedly had two boxes of ammunition. The Rio Claro man was arrested by members of the Northern Division Task Force.
The name of the gun dealer was not disclosed by police to prevent anyone from targeting him. Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident officers of the Central Division under the supervision of Sgt Jitendra Tooleram and led by Senior Supt Jayson Ford, seized 5.5 kilogrammes of marijuana in Felicity on Friday night.
This exercise took place between 6 pm and 9 pm with officers of the Central Division CID, the Central Division Task Force, and warrant officers. The officers said they went to an abandoned house in Felicity where they found the high grade Kush marijuana. No one was arrested.
