Richard Hercules, 19, of Quarry Street, Diego Martin died at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH) early this morning after he and friends were attacked by gunmen.
Police reports stated that around midnight Hercules was outside his home when neighbours heard loud explosions. Upon checking they found him lying on the road.
Hercules’ neighbours rushed him to the St James Medical Centre where he was treated and sent to the PoSGH. He succumbed to his injuries around 4 am.
The police said Hercules was known to them, but declined to elaborate further. A motive for the shooting is yet to be ascertained.
Sargent Brown, Constable Gordon and Corporals Reyes and Jupiter were on the scene investigating.
